Results from Today’s Sonnen/Diaz NSAC Hearing
Former champions Chael Sonnen and Nick Diaz both had appointments with the Nevada State Athletic Commission this afternoon, and the results for each were varied.
Nick Diaz and Chael Sonnen faced the NSAC today
Chael Sonnen was given a TUE (therapeutic use exemption) for receiving testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) in his upcoming fight against Anderson Silva. His last fight against Silva was marred with a violation of similar rules, and he was suspended for one year by the California State Athletic Commission.
Speaking of one year suspensions, that’s what was handed down to Nick Diaz today by the NSAC. A compelling argument was made by both sides, and one could say Diaz’es side presented a fair argument; but we all know what happens in front of the undefeated, rigid members of the NSAC. Diaz was handed down a one year suspension, which will sideline him until February 4, 2013.
