Fedor Knocks Rizzo Out In First Round; Announces Retirement
In what was expected to many MMA fans, Fedor Emelianenko announced his retirement after defeating Pedro Rizzo.
Considered to many as the greatest heavyweight of all time, Emelianenko accrued a record of 39-4-1 and was considered undefeated until losing to Fabricio Werdum in June 2010. That began a three fight losing streak to Werdum, Antonio Silva, and Dan Henderson which was considered to many as the fall of Fedor. He was able to finish his career with three wins, but cited family and lack of inciting offers as reasons to leave the sport.
