UFC on FX 4 Results: Maynard Outpoints a Fleeing Guida

As cascades of boo’s rained down upon Clay Guida, it was apparent that the New Jersey crowd was not happy with the way he was fighting. Employing a strategy compared to Kalib Starnes (circa 2008 vs. Nate Quarry), Guida circled and backtracked as his opponent Gray Maynard at points literally was sprinting across the ring at him. Maynard, visibly annoyed, would yell and show his middle fingers to the opposing lightweight. Ultimately, the judges found Maynard the winner by split decision. UFC President Dana White was not pleased with Guida’s performance, using the word “timidity” to describe Guida’s technique.

“This isn’t f—king ‘Dancing With the Stars.’ You can’t win a fight by running around in circles – that’s not how fights are won.” -Dana White
