UFC on FOX 4 to Produce Next Light Heavyweight Title Contender
It’s not foreign for the UFC to let the public know that the winner of a certain fight will be moving on to fight for the belt after his victory. It is foreign, though, for UFC brass to add this interesting wrench into the situation.
Dana White informed FOX in an e-mail that the next 205-lb. title contender would be drawn from the main event (Shogun Rua vs. Brandon Vera) or from the co-main event (Lyoto Machida vs. Ryan Bader). Apparently fed up with boring main cards, he said that the next title contender would have to be a fighter who put on a show instead of just winning the fight.
“These fighters have a huge opportunity to show the world why they deserve to fight for the UFC title next,” White told FOX Sports in an email statement. “Winning isn’t enough at UFC on FOX. This division is so competitive these fighters have to look great to separate themselves from the pack.
“I’m expecting all of these guys to go all-out to prove why they should be next in line for a title shot.”
We will see who can put on the most electric show at UFC on FOX 4 next Saturday, August 4 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
