Machida KO’s Bader, Awarded Title Shot

Lyoto Machida (left) knocked Ryan Bader out cold to earn a title shot

We now know who is next in line for a title shot at 205-lbs. after Jon Jones and Dan Henderson square off at UFC 151, and that man is Lyoto Machida. Finishing Ryan Bader in devastating fashion, Machida put on the performance of the night and earned another shot at the light heavyweight belt he lost to Shogun Rua in 2010.

UFC President Dana White made it clear the most dominating performace would be rewarded with #1 title contendership, and Lyoto Machida looked incredible in the co-main event of UFC on FOX 4. After winning the first round, Bader charged in on the Brazilian who met him with a right straight that ended the fight.

Jon Jones is a heavy favorite over Dan Henderson at UFC 151, and if he successfully defends his belt a fourth time will face Machida who he defended the belt against at UFC 140. Jones has said that Machida was the “hardest puzzle to figure out” in his already storied career.
