UFC on Fox 4 Results: Shogun TKO’s Vera

Rua (right) punished a resilient Brandon Vera (left) in all four rounds

UFC President Dana White made it clear before UFC on Fox 4 that he wanted an entertaining card. Upset by recent disappointing cards, he implored the main card fighters to finish their fight impressively to earn a title shot, and that they did. All four fights televised live on Fox delivered, including a war between the two men who headlined the card: Shogun Rua and Brandon Vera.

In a testament of Brandon Vera’s toughness, it took four rounds for Shogun Rua to finish the fight he dominated bell to bell. Vera had his moments, but it was Rua delivering most of the punishment to a resillient Brandon Vera. Lyoto Machida also put on a show, knocking out a charging Ryan Bader early in the second round with a devestating right straight. The win will earn him the next title shot at light heavyweight against the winner of Dan Henderson and 3-time defending champion Jon Jones who holds wins against Machida, Rua, Vera, and Bader.
