Strikeforce To Shut Down, Announces Stacked Final Event

The line-up for the stacked Strikeforce finale card

After cancelling two shows and rumors of closing its doors, Strikeforce has confirmed that it will have one final show before being absolved into the UFC. Deciding to go out on a strong note, the promotion will put on what should be their greatest show featuring their greatest fighters.

Gilbert “El Niño” Melendez (champion) vs. Pat Healy for the STRIKEFORCE lightweight title
Luke Rockhold (champion) vs. Lorenz Larkin for the STRIKEFORCE middleweight title
Nate Marquardt (champion) vs. Tarec Saffiedine for the STRIKEFORCE welterweight title
Daniel Cormier (Strikeforce Grand Prix champion) vs. Dion Staring

Strikeforce founder and CEO Larry Coker was elated to bring the news of his promotion’s final, and perhaps biggest show.

“We’ve built an absolutely stacked card for Oklahoma City and the SHOWTIME viewers. We have three awesome title fights featuring some of the best fighters to ever grace the STRIKEFORCE cage. Plus, we have Daniel Cormier, one of the fastest-rising heavyweight stars today, returning to his roots in Oklahoma to fight Dion Staring. January 12 is going to be a really special night.”

The fight will air live on SHOTIME on Saturday, January 12 at 10pm ET.
