Overeem/Bigfoot Tapped for UFC 156

It appears that we now know who Alistair Overeem will make his UFC return against, coming off a nine month-long suspension for testing positive for a banned substance in the lead up to his previously scheduled fight against Junior dos Santos at UFC 146.

Overeem (36-11, 1-0 UFC) is only one fight into his UFC career, but is already one of the most established fighters in the sport. Having a deep history in PRIDE, DREAM, K-1, and Strikeforce; he is truly one of the most well-rounded figures in martial arts. His last win a brutal beatdown against Brock Lesnar, “The Reem” is hungry to get out there and earn the UFC title. He would probably get a shot with a victory here.

Silva (17-4, 1-1 UFC) saw his stock drop significantly with a crushing loss to Cain Velasquez, but after beating undefeated Travis Browne last month he’s back in the Top 10 looking to get that vaunted UFC heavyweight title shot.

The two men will fight on February 2, 2013 in Las Vegas, NV.
