Matt Brown Interested in Nick Diaz Fight

Fresh off his UFC Fight Night 40 win over Erick Silva (watch it), the “Immortal” welterweight warrior is looking ahead to the next big challenge in the promotion’s stacked 170-pound weight class. And with a couple of big-name contenders already tied up with previous commitments, Brown is going to have to wait and see how the division shakes out.

Unless the UFC brass manage to convince Nick Diaz to quit his job at Walmart come out of retirement.

“I think Nick Diaz would be more of a war than anybody else,” Brown told the cast and crew of MMA Roasted. “The dude is not afraid to fight. He’s a warrior in his own right. He likes to come forward, I like to come forward … I can see that being a legendary fight, for sure. Of course that’s gonna interest me.”

That’s gonna interest me, too, and a lot of other mixed martial arts (MMA) fans.

Brown (19-11) has won seven in a row with six nasty finishes and could be one win away from a title shot if he’s able to defeat a top-10 opponent in his next fight. Then again, Diaz is a former division title contender and does have enough name value to propel “The Immortal” into the promised land.

Assuming he wins.

Diaz (26-9) hung up the gloves following a unanimous decision loss to Georges St. Pierre back in early 2013. While he’s teased a potential return to combat sports in the past, the promotion has been unwilling to meet his demands, and so the wily Stockton slugger remains benched until further notice.

Too bad, as he’s missing out on some great fights.

Including this one.
